Mentors Empowering and Nurturing Through Education

About M.E.N.T.E.

The primary goal of Mentors Empowering and Nurturing Through Education (M.E.N.T.E.) is to increase the number of underrepresented low-income high school students applying and enrolling into a four/ two-year university/college, while helping them become well-rounded conscientious members of their community. M.E.N.T.E works with Alain LeRoy Locke High School as we strive to address the lack of advocacy, resources, and guidance in a community that is in dire need of developing future leaders. This program consists of seven components: (1) One-on-one Mentorship, (2) SAT/CAHSEE Tutoring (3) Information Sessions and Workshops, (4) Career and College Exploration, (5) Scholarships and Internships, (6) Fieldtrips/ Community Service Events, and (7) Professionalism/ Resume Building. This student run organization is intended to help all types of students from all levels of high school (9th-12th) in providing additional resources, support, recruitment, and any other help. We also provide assistance for ESL, undocumented, and/or mentally challenged students as well.
